Established: 2012, as one of the three primary disciplines offered, the Department of Electrical Engineering has evolved into a powerhouse for academics, scientific research and cutting edge technologies with a wide range of expertise in circuits and systems, communications and signal processing, control and power, intelligent systems and networks.


Strength


The department besides having well qualified faculty, has enriched its laboratories keeping in mind the contemporary developments. Various laboratories managed by respected faculties and trained technicians, are well equipped with modern sophisticated instruments to take up the new challenges in research.


Academics


The department houses laboratories of Electrical Machines, Control System, Power Electronics, Measurement and Instrumentation and Engineering Practices with many modern and sophisticated instruments.

Besides the normal courses, students undergo Industrial visit and training, present seminar talks, all to their credits. Electrical circuits laboratory


In the Electrical Circuit Lab students can create their own electrical circuits and do measurements on it. In the circuits the students can use resistors, light bulbs, switches, capacitors and coils. The circuits can be powered by a AC/DC power supply or batteries. There is an ammeter, voltmeter, wattmeter and an ohmmeter. There is also a version of the Electrical Circuit Lab in which data can be collected. Students can analyze the collected data by creating graphs of the data and use the graphs in the conclusion tool.




ENGINEERING PRACTICES laboratory


Engineering Practice Lab is one of the important labs for all branches of first year students who are pursuing undergraduate programs. The aim of this lab is to provide exposure to the students with hands on experience on various basic engineering practices in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The Students will able to handle basic electrical and electronics equipment’s. Students will able to do staircase wiring. Students will able to understand domestic wiring procedures practically. Student will able to assemble electronic systems. Students will understand all the fundamental concepts involving electrical Engineering. Students will understand all the fundamental concepts involving mechanical, electrical, electronic engineering.

ELECTRICAL MACHINES laboratory


The laboratory students can perform experiments on transformers: open circuit, short circuit, and load test; unbalanced loading and parallel operation of transformers; speed control and load characteristics of shunt, series and compound DC machines; induction machines: blocked rotor, no-load, and loading tests; operation of single-phase induction motors; operation of a synchronous machine connected to a large external source. The laboratory is also used for research activities in machines and to carry out project works on energy conversion.


POWER ELECTRONICS laboratory


The power electronics lab enhances the EEE students by providing them the better understanding of the concepts and working of advanced power semiconductor devices and power electronics circuits. Power Electronics laboratory comprises of oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, soldering stations, LCR meters and power electronic modules to carry out experiments. It also deals with the Study of gate drive circuits of IGBT, 1‐phase half controlled and fll controlled converters, 3‐ phase full controlled converters, 1‐phase ac voltage regulators, DC‐DC converters.


The main objectives are ,
1. To rig up circuits for various applications in power electronics.
2. To understand the operation of different types of power controllers.

CONTROL SYSTEMS laboratory


Control System Lab exposes students & industry professional to study the fundamentals of Control System. Studies include how one device can be used to manage, command, direct, or regulate the behaviour of other System Open Loop & Close Loop Control.  Lab comprises of temperature sensor, light sensor, DC motor, servo Motor, LED lamps, IR sensor, relay SPST, relay DPDT, de bounce switch, LED bar, buzzer etc., which can be used for the study of control system. A process can be controlled using P, PI & PID system There are wide range of experiments that can be performed on the control system lab platform.

INSTRUMENTION laboratory


It is the task of instrumentation and control engineers to research, design, install, develop, test and maintain instruments, electronics and computer control systems that are used in the process industry. With the help of automation techniques and computer-aided processes, they formulate ways to control these systems. Their prime focus is to ensure that the processes operate efficiently and safely. The department of ICE prepares students who seek to enter this stream by providing them with intricate knowledge to manage and control instruments.
