About Civil Engineering

Civil engineering discipline deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. Civil engineering is the second-oldest engineering discipline after military engineering, and it is defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering. Today’s civil engineers face the challenge of creating structures which at times seen to defy gravity, defy engineering science and even defy logic. Yet, these amazing structures are firmly based in scientific principle; seeming to bend scientific laws to meet the needs of the architect
The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 2012 and currently offers B.E programme in Civil Engineering (4-years). It’s fully equipped with modern state of laboratories and qualified faculty members. The department follows the Anna university regulations. In addition, the students are given industrial training in leading industries and encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to develop their overall personality. The department is marching forward to achieve excellence in every area of specialization in civil engineering and aims to provide practical training and placement to all civil engineering students.


Fluid Mechanics Laboratory:

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory is well equipped with flow measuring devices in pipes and flow measurements in open channels. Facilities are available for calibration of flow measuring devices as well as pressure testing of pipes and pumps. The various equipments available in the lab are,

Strength of Materials Laboratory:

Strength of Materials Laboratory offers facilities for testing building materials for their strength, behavior and suitability for various applications. The various equipments available in the lab are,

• Rock well and Brinell Hardness testing
• Impact testing machine
 

Surveying Laboratory:
